i saw the chairs by ionesco yesterday and was struck by the way in which single words can change the entire visual reality of a play
it was a well-directed production but the whole play (and its ambiguities about what is real and what is imagined) was ruined by the director's decision to play that song from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the end. I was disappointed. and almost asleep because i was tired and a bit drunk.

also i saw 2001: a space odyssey last week and i think it is absolutely wonderful. when HAL is shut down oh it is the most beautiful and tragic thing i have seen in a long while.

and the monolith resembles a cinema screen, doesn't it? i think i'll write about it for my this week's essay, which was due an hour ago. i'll do it tomorrow.

also i have realised my dissertation is mainly about death.

bye blog sorry i've been neglecting you. i'll write something coherent soon.

oh and i watched psycho with raphaela and had to sleep with the light on. fearful times. haha. i think the most horrible bit is where they start winching the car out of the mud at the end...

and my mum and one of my sisters came to see me yesterday and my sister gave me something that she bought for me when she was in Jamaica. it is possibly the best thing anyone has ever given me. i will post a photo of it soon. suspense. until then,

i remain,
