"There is no place in Buddhism for using effort. Just be ordinary and nothing special. Relieve your bowels, pass water, put on your clothes and eat your food. When you are tired go and lie down. Ignorant people may laugh at me, but the wise will understand."

This morning I woke up thinking about a book. It was Haruki Murakami's The Wind-Up Bird Chronicles. I sat in a cafe in Chicago eating a black and white cookie, reading the ending and then I left it on the table when I was done. I hoped that someone would pick it up.
